About Emma & Love the Outdoors
Emma George was a circus performer, pole vaulter and Olympian but now Emma loves spending family time outdoors with her three children going camping, fishing, boating and 4WDing (four wheel driving) and touring.
Love The Outdoors is designed to enable families to have the information and inspiration as well as the confidence to explore the outdoors and create bonds, experiences and memories, which can last a lifetime. There are plenty of ideas, tips and checklists to get you started and we would love to hear about your adventures in our outdoor family.
There are how to videos on a range of topics, as well as Love the Outdoors kids where the kids are the stars of the show, doing what they do best – having adventures, exploring and creative play. We love getting outdoors as much as possible and it is great for children to leave the television, computers and iPads at home and spend real time in the real world.
A Little Bit About Emma
My husband, Ashley and I have three boys, all of which started camping when they were only a few months old and have been boating, fishing and on adventures with us since before they could crawl.
I grew up camping, fishing and exploring the bush with my sister and parents in country Victoria. When I was eight, I joined the Flying Fruit Fly Circus and performed acts such as tower of chairs and trapeze across Australia during school holidays.
When I became a teenager, I left the circus to pursue my new love, athletics. Ever since I was five-years-old, I dreamed of representing Australia at an Olympic Games and wish came true when I competed at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
I retired in 2002 following two rounds of back surgery. Having my children Austin (2005), Cooper (2007) and Bailey (2010) opened a whole new world for me. Ashley works a lot so our weekends and holidays are special and we connect as a family by getting out on our boat, going fishing, touring or camping in the bush.
Being a former athlete, I understand the importance of healthy living and keeping not only yourself but also your children active.
